Teacher Training
Pascal Betschen, co-founder of the DataCup project, visited the headquarters of the BMCE Bank Foundation in Morocco to conduct a two-day training session for teachers, educational coordinators, and supervisors from the 4 schools in the Medersat.com network. This training allowed teachers to receive the DataCups generously donated by the Institut Français du Maroc.
The BMCE Bank Foundation is committed to protecting the environment and promoting education in rural areas. It funds the construction of schools to raise community awareness about the importance of preserving traditional architectural and cultural heritage. Above all, it ensures that children feel comfortable at school and can study in the best possible conditions.
On the agenda:
- Getting started with the DataCup → user manual
- Analysis of existing content (2500 resources)
- Projection of future content (Arabian tales, etc.)
- Adaptation of the public interface

Deployment in Schools
The DataCups were introduced into the classrooms of the Medersat.com network shortly after the training session !
Thanks to this innovative technology, teachers will be able to access digital resources without the need for an internet connection.
This training helped strengthen the teachers' ability to provide quality education to students in rural schools.
And our approach goes further: students benefit from an introduction to digital technology in a secure environment that preserves their focus. Our method ensures an education free from distractions, inappropriate content, or unwanted advertisements from the World Wide Web. The resources are carefully selected to provide a positive and targeted learning experience.
A step closer to quality education !
DataCup in Morocco: A Successful Collaboration with the BMCE Bank Foundation and Medersat.com
We have been working with Morocco for several years, and it is within this framework that the DataCup team traveled to Morocco from May 2nd to 7th. During this trip, our team had the opportunity to visit a local partner in collaboration with Medersat.com and the BMCE Bank Foundation on May 6th, 2024.
The BMCE Bank Foundation is actively committed to protecting the environment and promoting education in rural areas. In 2023, the French Institute of Morocco funded four DataCups for various schools managed by BMCE Bank, which had an unstable internet connection. This project aims to facilitate teaching without disruptions caused by distractions, inappropriate content, or unwanted advertisements, using a stable local connection. The available resources are carefully selected to ensure a positive learning experience.
The visit to the school located in Ait Yadine, Khemisset, near Rabat, was filled with engaging activities:

We were able to observe the use of the DataCup at the Ait Yadine school (local Wi-Fi network accessible from 4 classrooms, computer lab);

We witnessed its use in the classroom during a digital introduction workshop. The students participated in fun digital activities in groups, using Khan Academy to do math exercises. They are learning how to use the mouse, keyboard, a web browser, and how to conduct research. And because these students are trilingual, they do all of this in French, even though it is not their native language;

We participated in a meeting to discuss the school's needs in terms of Wi-Fi coverage and digital resources ;

Finally, we were able to brainstorm an action plan to bring new features to the DataCups.
This visit was extremely informative. By closely observing the use of the DataCup with primary school children, we witnessed its effectiveness and usefulness. The academic inspector of the Moroccan Ministry of Education confirmed the value of digital tools in the classroom to enhance student engagement. We sincerely thank the teachers, the head of the institution, and the academic inspector for their warm welcome and availability.
During our stay, we also had the opportunity to discuss several important topics, including the integration of new resources into the DataCup.
Our company also specializes in content research and cataloging services, leveraging our experience in the field of media libraries to offer original and contextualized content. To meet the expressed needs, we have compiled a hundred resources in three different languages (French, Arabic, and Amazigh) for primary school levels.
This trip strengthened our belief that our collaboration with the Medersat.com school network and the BMCE Bank Foundation is an asset for education in rural Morocco. We look forward to continuing our efforts to improve access to quality education through digital technologies.
