Where did DataCup come from?
Flashback to 2016: Nearly 250,000 people fled the violent attacks orchestrated by Boko Haram and sought refuge in the refugee camps in Diffa and Tillébari, Niger refugee camps in Diffa and Tillabéri in Niger.

The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) is therefore seeking a solution to provide these people with media content from their home countries. The constraints on the ground are as follows: lack of internet access and computer skills, and an unstable power grid.
For several years now, Mind & Go invests in research and development to drive innovation in this area. And so DataCup was born. Thanks to our CII certification, which demonstrates our ability to bring a prototype to life, UNHCR has entrusted us to collaborate on this project.
This partnership with UNHCR allows us to launch our first DataCup pilot project in the field.
A few months later, two DataCups were deployed on site. The resources on the DataCups can be accessed through various devices, including smartphones, tablets, laptops, desktop computers, and more. Despite the low Internet connection rate, a surprisingly high number of young people own smartphones, and UNHCR has also provided laptops and tablets to the refugees.
