It's already been a few months since we had introduced you to the EduBase project in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The project has just reached a new milestone with the presentation of the DataCup ecosystem to education stakeholders in the field by ENABEL’s Education teams.

In its External Operations Bulletin July-August 2026, ENABEL has published an article on the organization of a DataCup training workshop for schools in South Ubangi, titled: “The DataCup Platform Takes Root in Schools.”

From the Digital Library to the Field
As part of the EduBase project, ENABEL has acquired 3 DataCups and 3 PowerCups to equip elementary schools that face difficulties accessing the Internet and electricity. This will allow teachers and their students to access educational and recreational digital resources, with several objectives in mind:
- Prepare their lessons more effectively
- Access Resources for Teachers
- Access resources for students
- Gaining Independence in the Face of Technology
- Changing Classroom Practices
- Improving Access to Knowledge
We worked with the ENABEL teams in the early stages of the project to select and propose initial educational content, primarily produced by French-speaking associations or NGOs.
The goal is to gradually enable local teams under the Ministry of Education to add official resources aligned with the official curriculum to the digital library on their own.
Workshop and Hands-On Exercises to Get Started with DataCup
This bulletin offers a glimpse into the next phase of the project: the interaction between the tool and its users.
More than thirty education officials and school principals from South Ubangi had the opportunity to explore the DataCup box, the embedded portal that allows users to browse content just as they would on the Internet, as well as the educational and digital resources made available to them. In addition to the presentation, they were able to try out the interface during hands-on sessions.
This step is essential for ensuring that this new solution is adopted in the field.
Edubase Begins Its Experience with DataCup
These initial stages of implementation will allow ENABEL’s teams and their educational partners to gradually observe how the resources are being used in schools and to gather concrete feedback from teachers on their needs for digital resources to improve learning pathways.
One of the key factors in the success of this project is undoubtedly the integration of a sufficient number of local educational resources to serve as a genuine catalyst for learning.
This is a challenge that DataCup has already helped its partners tackle on several occasions, notably for Duddal in Niger and the Directorate of Wildlife and Protected Areas in the Central African Republic.
Throughout each project, we work closely with our partners to assist them with selecting, cataloging, and organizing content.
The entire team is especially pleased to hear this good news about DataCups being introduced into schools, where they will be able to begin their real-world use, which we want as sustainable as possible.
Thank you to the Enabel teams and their partners in the Democratic Republic of the Congo for their trust.
